FORT McMURRAY, AB. — The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has released the official list of candidates for the upcoming municipal and school trustee elections.
Voters will head to the polls on Oct. 20 to elect a mayor, councillors by ward, and trustees for either the Fort McMurray Public School Board or the Fort McMurray Catholic School Division.
Eligible voters must be at least 18 years old, Canadian citizens and residents of the municipality. Proof of identity and current residence is required to cast a ballot.
Advance voting will run on select days between Oct. 3 and Oct. 17, with polls generally open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (some locations operate 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.). On election day, polls are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and voters must cast ballots within their ward of primary residence.

- Ward 1 (Fort McMurray):
- Oct. 3–4: SMS Equipment Place, 1 C. A. Knight Way
- Oct. 7–10 and Oct. 14–17 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.): Syncrude Athletic Park Clubhouse, 101 Cartier Road
- Oct. 10–11: Oil Sands Discovery Centre, 515 MacKenzie Boulevard
- Ward 2 (Fort McKay, Fort Chipewyan, Fort Fitzgerald):
- Oct. 15–16: Mamawi Hall, 128 Cardinal Avenue, Fort Chipewyan
- Oct. 15–16: Fort McKay Community Centre, Range Road 110A
- No advance voting in Fort Fitzgerald
- Ward 3 (Draper, Saprae Creek Estates):
- Oct. 15–16: Vista Ridge, 1 Spruce Valley Drive, Saprae Creek Estates
- Ward 4 (Anzac, Conklin, Janvier, Gregoire Lake Estates):
- Oct. 15–16: Anzac Recreation Centre, 237 Stony Mountain Road
- Oct. 15–16: Conklin Multiplex, 244 Northland Drive
- Oct. 15–16: Janvier Municipal Office, 110 Janvier Drive

- Ward 2 (Fort McKay, Fort Chipewyan, Fort Fitzgerald): Mamawi Hall, Fort McKay Community Centre, and mobile voting in Fort Fitzgerald by appointment
- Ward 3 (Draper, Saprae Creek Estates): Vista Ridge
- Ward 4 (Anzac, Conklin, Janvier, Gregoire Lake Estates): Anzac Recreation Centre, Conklin Multiplex, and Janvier Municipal Office
