Recent rainfall has helped lower the fire danger rating in the Lac La Biche Forest Area to moderate, offering some relief to crews working across the region.
One of the largest incidents, the Pelican Wildfire, is actually a combination of four separate fires. It now spans an estimated 663 hectares.
As of today, there are 16 active wildfires burning in the Lac La Biche Forest Area. According to Alberta Wildfire, one is classified as being held, while the remaining 15 are under control.
Since the beginning of the year, the region has seen 196 wildfires, burning a total of 74,864 hectares.
Officials continue to monitor conditions closely and remind residents to stay alert and report any signs of smoke or fire.
