It rolled in quickly, stayed for a couple of days, and rolled back out just as fast. The comments are filled with people trying to sound tough about it, but the fact of the matter is it was an anomaly of a long weekend for us. Air Quality Health Index measurements were as high as 12, matching toxicity with levels recorded in 2016. For reference: a normal clear day should see a reading of 1-2.
My friend at local graphic design/videography company Hexwave Media took advantage of the blanket of smoke and capture this video – likening the views to something out of a seminal cyberpunk movie. The video has captured attentions far from home as well, being shared across North America (much like so much smoke) and picked up by weather networks and other feature video channels.
