Keyano student competes for top prize in trades

A student from Keyano College is heading to Skills Canada’s national competition this week.

Keegan Sturge, who won the gold medal for electrical installations at the Provincial Skills Competition earlier this month, will be testing his talents against the best students and apprentices in the nation. Skills Canada is a national event where students and apprentices in trades and technology demonstrate their proficiency through competition with others in their discipline.

Sturge is no stranger to competition in the trades. In 2022, he placed third in the provincials at the secondary level. In 2023, he advanced to first place in the provincials and second place at the national level in Winnipeg.

This year’s Skills Canada competition is being held in Quebec City from May 29 to June 1.
