Police warn of tainted street drugs

Alberta RCMP is issuing a warning about tainted narcotics hitting the streets across the province.

In February, Grand Prairie RCMP seized a large quantity of drugs linked to at least one overdose death. Health Canada later determined the drugs tested positive for fluorofentanylnynal mixed with bromazepam, a potent tranquilizer.  The drug combination renders them resistant to naloxone which is typically used to help resuscitate people suffering from opioid overdoses.

The tainted narcotics have been linked to nearly ten deaths in Eastern Canada. Police say the drugs come in pills stamped with the number 20 on one side, and SS on the other, though it can come in other forms.
