Local MLA and Alberta’s Minister of Energy is on his way to Houston today.

Among the topics being discussed is our province’s leadership in emissions reduction through carbon capture technology, as well as Alberta’s role in expanding energy security.

“Alberta is a leader in emissions reduction,” said Premier Danielle Smith in a media release.

“Our investments in carbon capture technologies and hydrogen development show that we have the ability and expertise to offer practical solutions as a responsible supplier of energy resources to the United States.”

The weeklong conference brings together international decision-makers, industry leaders, and government officials, to take stock of the ever-changing global energy situation.

“Alberta is advancing energy security by expanding existing partnerships that are vital to building the necessary infrastructure to remain competitive, support energy diversification and create prosperity in the North American trading family,” said Energy Minister, Brian Jean.

While attending CERAWeek, Premier Smith and Minister Jean will meet with American government officials and business leaders to discuss North American energy security. The conference runs from March 18 -22.
