The annual WinterPLAY celebrations kick off tonight at 5 p.m.

The annual festival runs from February 23 to March 3 and features a variety of outdoor activities to enjoy with your family, friends, and neighbors.

The much-anticipated Shoot-out on the Snye begins on Saturday, February 24 at 9:45 a.m. and runs until Sunday, February 25.

There will be horse-drawn wagon rides, dog sled rides, free skating, and ice sculptures.

This year the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is bringing Barbegazi to the event. From

Barbegazi is billed as a high-octane, family-friendly winter sports event. Professional athletes will be showing off their skills at the sled demonstrations on Feb. 23 (7–7:30 p.m.) and Feb. 24 (2–2:30 p.m. and 7–7:30 p.m.)

Other Barbegazi events at WinterPLAY will run from Feb. 24 to March 3 and include:

• Human curling
• Giant sling shot.
• Fat bike course
• Snowskate Park

The festival wraps up on March 3 at 5 p.m.
