Government reminding Canadians of tax season

The Federal Government is reminding Canadians it is tax season.

The Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) says individuals can now begin submitting their 2023 income tax and benefit return online.  For people still filing their returns on paper, CRA says they should have received the income tax package in the mail already.

CRA is also reminding everyone that April 30th is the deadline for most people to submit their returns. If they owe money to the government, it is also the payment due date.

Self-employed Canadians have until June 15th to submit their returns, but if they owe money, it must be paid in full by April 30 to avoid interest charges.

According to CRA, there are several benefits and rebates available to Canadians this year. They suggest taxpayers us their My Account service so they can easily manage their tax affairs online, and stay up-to-date on the status of a refund or a payment
