Talk of climate change is heating up once more with the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service reporting last month was the hottest January on record.

Data also shows it was the eighth consecutive month of record-breaking global temperatures. Copernicus previously reported that 2023 was the hottest year on record; news which has climate scientists sweating.

According to data from the institute, Canada experienced May and June temperatures between two and six degrees higher than normal.  Samantha Burgess, Copernicus’s deputy director, says “rapid reductions in greenhouse gas emissions are the only way to stop global temperatures increasing.”
