RCMP seek suspect in identity fraud

The Wood Buffalo RCMP is seeking your help identifying a fraud suspect.

On December 30th, a male suspect purchased an iPhone 15 valued at $1,448 from the Bell store at the Peter Pond Mall. The suspect produced what appeared to be a valid ID.

Two days later police were contacted by a person in another province who was the victim of identity theft.

The man had short grey and white hair, possibly balding, brown shoes, and a ring on his left pinky finger. He was wearing a dark suit, blue and white dress shirt, brown shoes, and black-framed glasses.

RCMP are advising that if they believe they have been a victim of fraud, to contact Wood Buffalo RCMP at (780) 788-4040 and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre either by phone at 1-888-495-8501 or online.  Victims of identity fraud should place flags on all their accounts and report the incident to both credit bureaus, Equifax and TransUnion.
