Another day, another delay for the tormented Trans Mountain Pipeline,

The federally owned Trans Mountain Corporation (TMC) building the long overdue expansion says it has hit another snag. As TMC inches its way along the Fraser Valley, it has encountered an issue while drilling through Mountain 3 along the route.

The project, which will provide additional oil capacity between Edmonton and Vancouver, was originally intended to have oil flowing through it by December 2019. The project is now more than four years behind schedule and more than $30 billion over budget.

The latest delay calls into question TMC’s expectation to have the pipeline operational by the end of the first quarter of this year.

In a statement posted to the company’s website, TMC indicates they are taking additional time to consider their next steps to ensure safe and prudent actions, while minimizing further delays.
