Fort McKay Métis Nation Association issues notice of election

The Fort McKay Métis Nation Association is holding an election for the offices of President and Vice President.

In an Election Notice issued by the Fort McKay Métis Nation Association, voting day is set for February 22nd.

Seeking the office of President is the incumbent, Ron Quintal. He is being challenged Loretta Waquan.  

Felix Faichney and John Paquette are both running for the position of Vice President.

The notice of election states that on election day, voting will take at the Fort McKay Métis Nation

Office as well as the Chateau Louis Hotel located at Roseberry Room, 11727 Kingsway NW in Edmonton.

Advanced voting will be available:

  • February 7 at FMMG Office located at #3, 400 TaigaNova Crescent, Fort McMurray from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
  • February 8, at the Fort McKay Métis Nation Office from 12:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
  • Chateau Louis Hotel at Roseberry Room, 11727 Kingsway NW in Edmonton, from 12:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
  • February 15, at the WSSS Office, 5209, 101 Sunset Drive, Cochrane Alberta from 12:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

According to the notice, voters who are physically incapacitated such that they cannot attend at a voting station may make arrangements to vote by contacting the Returning Officer, Peter Fortna, at (780) 381-9168 between 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
