The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is writing some big cheques to support local community organizations.

On January 6, the Community Investment Program Approval Committee (CIPAC) approved grants totaling more than $12 million for local non-profit organizations, individuals, and athletes.

The funds come from the July 2023 decision where the RMWB Council delegated grant approval authority to CIPAC for the Community Capital, Community Impact Grant, Community Sustaining, and Games Legacy grants

“We are leaders across Alberta in supporting community organizations and partnerships, and it’s important we continue to enable their important contributions to everyone across the region,” said Mayor Sandy Bowman.

“Our social profit sector does incredible work, and we’re pleased to play our part in their ongoing efforts to build better communities.”

CIPAC met on January 6 to review the administration’s recommendations and based on the outcomes of this meeting, applicants received decision letters informing them of the status of their application.
