Some new details have been released, after a six year old girl was struck by a car, and is now in a coma in an Edmonton hospital.
On December 29th six year old “Kaia” was hit by a vehicle in Fort McMurray. She was airlifted to Edmonton with serious brain injuries where she remains in a coma.
Since that day, people in Fort McMurray wanted to help out. First, Prestige Jewelers raised over $20 thousand through an online auction to support Kaia and her family. Other Good Samaritans are collecting and raffling gift cards and collectibles as well as a gift basket with $2,000 in goods to help the family out.
There is also a “Go Fund Me” page to help the family as they are spending as much time as possible by the little girl’s bedside in Edmonton so she sees a friendly face when she wakes up.
The RCMP have told Harvard Media News that the driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with impaired driving, and impaired driving causing bodily harm. That person has made an initial court appearance, and will back in court in Fort McMurray on January 31st.
