A spokesperson for the RCMP is confirming a person has been charged in relation to the December 29 accident which sent six-year-old Kaia Intensive Care.

RCMP say charges may be upgraded if Kaia’s condition changes.

Donations are pouring in for a child seriously injured in an accident over the holidays.

On December 29th, 6-year-old Kaia was airlifted to a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Edmonton with life-threatening injuries prompting local businesses and community members to rally to support her.

Last week Prestige Jewelers raised over $20 thousand through an online auction to support Kaia and her family. Other Good Samaritans are collecting and raffling gift cards and collectibles as well as gift baskets to help the family out.

A GoFundMe has been set up raising over $13 thousand of the $15 thousand goal.

Harvard News Media has reached out to the Wood Buffalo RCMP for information on the accident and will update the story as more details become available.
