The RCMP is investigating a string of attempted break-ins in Fort McMurray.

During the overnight hours of November 20th, police responded to multiple residences in the Timberlea area, where suspects either kicked open or tried to kick open the front doors of people’s homes. In each instance, the suspects fled shortly after their attempts.

Police have obtained surveillance images from one of the homes showing three suspects.

RCMP says they are aware that there has been a trend on social media over the past number of years where youth film themselves while either banging aggressively or kicking down doors to businesses or homes.

Police consider these incidents serious in nature, noting they cause distress to residents as well as property damage.

The RCMP is reminding everyone that such activities can lead to serious criminal charges with significant consequences including high fines and prison terms.
