Regional Emergency Services (RES) will be conducting a controlled burn this week.

Fire Crews from RES along with Alberta Wildfire will be out at Morgan Heights and Harpe Heights in the Timberlea neighbourhood overseeing a hazard reduction burn to help reduce the wildfire risk in the area.

The hazard reduction burns in Timberlea are planned for October 19th if weather conditions permit.

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is asking residents to stay clear of the area while the work is in progress and obey any signage.

The RMWB also suggests resident of Morgan and Harpe Heights keep their windows closed to minimize smoke.

According to Alberta Wildfire, the fire danger in the Fort McMurray Forest Area is currently rated ‘High’ south of Lake Athabasca, and ‘Very High’ north of the lake.

The Municipality asks anyone with questions or concerns to contact The Pulse or call 780-743-7000.
