The RMWB is preparing its winter maintenance program ahead of the first big snowfall.

Roads within the RMWB are sectioned into certain routes and the Winter Maintenance Zone program.

Major roads, school zones, and steep hills are prioritized after snowfall however they will avoid plowing school zones between the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. on school days.

Residential neighbourhoods are divided into five Winter Maintenance Zones, one for each week.

The zones are broken down further into four subzones, WMZ-1, WMZ-2, WMZ-3, and WMZ-4.

Residents are encouraged to know both their subzone and day of the week that maintenance may occur.

Vehicles will need to be removed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on the signs day of the week when the subzone is active.

The subzones aim to be activated once every two weeks but may change due to other maintenance needs.

Residents can stay informed about which subzone is active through email alerts, the RMWB social media, or signs at the entrances of neighbourhoods.
