Fort McMurray man arrested for second degree murder

A Fort McMurray resident is facing one count of second-degree murder following the death of a person in Timberlea.

Matthew Thomas Cooper (39) is charged with second-degree murder in relation to the death of 43-year-old Norman Lineham, also from Fort McMurray.

On the evening of September 21st, RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious death in the Timberlea Area. When the police arrived they located Lineham his basement suite with suspicious injuries.

An autopsy later determined he was the victim of homicide.

On Friday September 29, police arrested Matthew Thomas Cooper in Anzac without incident.
