One man is dead after being shot by an RCMP officer following a firearms complaint.

Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a firearms complaint in the area of Beaconwood Place on Sept. 27, 2023, around 4 p.m.

A male suspect approached a woman at her home and shot his gun which hit her.

The male then left the area in his vehicle and fired more shots.

An incident between the male and RCMP took place, leading to shots being fired.

The male was stuck and died as a result of his injuries.

No officers were reported as injured during the incident.

The female victim was taken to the hospital and has since been released.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is now investigating the events leading to the actions of the police.
