Report of gunfire prompts lockdown in Fort McMurray

An investigation is underway following a shooting incident in Fort McMurray.

On Wednesday afternoon, the RCMP issued a shelter-in-place order for the Beacon Hill neighborhood in response to a firearms complaint and reports of gunfire near Beaconwood Place.

Residents were urged not to share any information about police actions on social media during the time.

The shelter-in-place advisory was lifted shortly after 5:30 p.m., but the area remains closed as law enforcement continued their investigation.
