A vacant building located near Kiyām Park at 10019 Franklin Avenue is being removed to create new opportunities for development in the area.
The building was the former site of The Red Cross and currently has a mural of the region facing Kiyām Park and the Municipal Building.
The mural will be removed during this process but will be temporarily re-installed on a fence until future decisions on the lot are made.
The municipality will discuss how the mural will be re-integrated into the park following construction.
Construction work will be active on Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. as well as, Saturday, Sunday, and statutory holidays between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Temporary lane or parking spot closures are not currently planned and noise levels will be monitored to ensure they comply with the Noise Bylaw.
The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of September 2023.
The RMWB says the schedules may change due to unforeseen circumstances and weather conditions.
