Storage pile fire caused by embers from burn barrel

A storage pile fire that occurred over the weekend has been determined to be caused by embers from a burn barrel.

According to the RMWB, at 2:13 p.m. on July 30, 2023, Regional Emergency Services received a report of a fire at a business just off of Highway 69, also known as Airport Road.

Firefighters arrived on the scene ten minutes later to a storage pile fire.

“The material ignited was a plastic material used in construction. The fire spread to two vehicles that were parked nearby,” says the RMWB.

Crews were able to get the fire under control by 3:07 p.m. and say it was fully extinguished 15 minutes later.
