Five local competitors to compete in World Police and Firefighter Games

Five members of the RMWB’s Regional Emergency Services (RES) are blazing their way to Winnipeg, Manitoba, for the World Police and Firefighter Games (WPFG).

Held every two years, the 2023 WPFG is the largest sporting event ever hosted by the province of Manitoba.

The games comprise of nearly 50 sports with 62 different events, which range from Archery to Wrist wrestling.

The RMWB’s RES competitors are:

  • Firefighter Kyrianne Mills – Bowling
  • Captain Mark Howdle – Golf
  • Battalion Chief Ryan Pitchers – Large Bore Shooting
  • Captain Dave Maki – Marathon
  • Senior Firefighter Jordon Hall – Swimming competitions

Over 8,500 active and retired first responders will compete as athletes in the games.

The Opening Ceremonies start at 6:00 PM on Friday, July 28th, and will be streamed live online. The games are scheduled to run until August 6th
