Wood Buffalo RCMP warn of suspected spiked drinks

The Wood Buffalo RCMP is launching an investigation into spiked drinks at establishments in the community.

This comes following some recent RCMP responses to reports of spiked drinks, as well as several social media posts by members of the community.

Wood Buffalo RCMP wants to encourage members of the community to report any suspected drink spiking to police, as it is believed a considerable amount of offences go unreported.

Symptoms of drink spiking include confusion, nausea, loss of memory, or even loss of consciousness.

If you suspect you or a friend has been spiked, you are recommended to tell someone whether it is a friend, venue staff, or police, as well as seek medical assistance, and screening from the police.

The RCMP wants to raise awareness about the subject, encourage people to report, and want to ensure victims know it is not their fault.

Any information regarding this or other crimes can be reported to Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1‐800‐222‐8477 (TIPS), online at www.
