Premier Danielle Smith is back from the Western Premiers conference.

During the annual meeting of the heads from western provinces and territories, the leaders discussed approaches to diversify and strengthen their shared economy and looked for opportunities to build future prosperity.

The provincial and territorial heads urged the Federal Government to respect the jurisdiction of the provinces and territories that have constitutional authority over their resources and energy production.

They also called on the Federal Government to secure international and domestic access to its energy products.

Other topics included the ongoing wildfire crisis and the threat of extreme weather events.

The leaders say they will continue to work together to support communities and ensure adequate resources are available to keep people safe and reduce threats to homes and livelihoods.
