Fort McMurray International Airport recognized as a Rainbow Space

The Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) is the newest recipient of Pride YMM’s Rainbow Space designation.

The airport sought out the status and took specific steps to receive the recognition demonstrating their commitment to inclusivity.

Pride conducted an audit of the airport’s HR policies, and journeyed through the terminal as mock passengers to ensure every aspect of a traveler’s experience is inclusive.

“Equity, diversity, and inclusion have always been a priority of our organization,” says Denean Robinson, President & CEO of the Airport Authority (FMAA)

“FMAA firmly believes that providing equality of opportunity, valuing diversity, and promoting a culture of inclusion are critical to our success. We want everyone to feel welcome and comfortable while at our terminal.”

Hanna Fridhed, Executive Director of Pride YMM says our airport is important to the community.

“Our airport is an important hub in our region, and the first space many are greeted by when they arrive,” says Fridhed.

“We are proud to say the Fort McMurray International Airport is now a certified Rainbow Space!”

The airport is one of 25 businesses and organizations to receive the Rainbow Space classification.

The Airport is inviting the community to celebrate the achievement with them on June 23, from 3 – 4 p.m. Interested participants are asked to register in advance online.
