The Regional Recreation Corporation (RRC) is announcing the return of Baseball Canada to Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo.

In partnership with the Fort McMurray Minor Baseball Association (FMMBA), the RRC will be hosting the 18U National Championship and 13U National Western Championships. These events are two of Baseball Canada’s 11 national tournaments.

“Baseball has quickly risen in popularity in our region, and we are so excited to welcome not one but two Baseball Canada events to Fort McMurray this summer,” said Mike Mayuk of FMMBA.

“We are ready to welcome an incredible weekend of baseball to Fort McMurray, along with all the athletes, coaches, support staff, Baseball Canada representatives and spectators.”

Building on the success of previous Baseball Canada events held in Wood Buffalo, the 2023 season will see 10 teams of elite-level 18 and under athletes from across the country participating in the 2023 Baseball Canada 18U National Championship. The matches will be held at Shell Place and Ross Hennigar Ball Park.

Teams of the 13U players participating in the 2023 Baseball Canada 13U National Western Championship will be playing at the Bob Campbell Field at MacDonald Island Park and the Howard Pew Park ball diamond.

Tickets for the matches go on sale June 19, and can be purchased online through MacDonald Island.
