UPDATE: Donations needed for Fort Chipewyan evacuees

As the evacuation order continues in Fort Chipewyan and the surrounding communities, many evacuees are making their way to Fort McMurray and Fort McKay.

Those evacuating are in need of essential items and you can find a list, and where to donate, below.

June 1, 5:00 pm Update:

Emergency Social Services is accepting the following donations:

  • Pet supplies
    • Pet food
    • Collars
    • Leashes
    • Litter boxes
    • Litter
  • NEW swimsuits for both children and adults (for evacuees to enjoy MacDonald Island Park)

Please bring these items to Centrefire Place between 8 am-8 pm.

United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo is accepting:

  • New bathing suits and towels (for evacuees to enjoy MacDonald Island Park)

Please bring these items to the Salvation Army Thrift Store or The Redpoll Centre.

The Artisan Square is accepting:

  • Cash donations
  • Non-perishable donations
  • Anything else, except items that need to be refrigerated

Items can be dropped off Sunday – Wednesday – 10 am-8 pm and Thursday – Saturday 10 am – 9 pm.
