Yard waste collection resumes May 9th

The RMWB is resuming yard waste collection next week.

The Municipality says residents can begin putting out their grass clippings and other yard debris for pickup on their regular day of collection starting May 9th.

They are reminding you that this type of garbage must be put in brown paper bags next to your bins before 7:30 AM on your scheduled day of collection.

Pet waste, food scraps and non-organic matter is not permitted in the bags.

Acceptable materials include:

  • Grass clippings
  • Leaves
  • Flowers
  • Weeds
  • Culled plants
  • Small twigs less than 30 centimeters (12 inches) long

The RM says residents should not include the following materials in their yard waste bags:

  • Kitchen food scraps
  • Pet waste
  • Dirt, rocks and gravel
  • Non-organic garden waste such as broken plant pots, plastic sheeting and metal stakes
  • Commercial yard waste
  • Plastic and compostable bags

Yard waste can also be dropped off for free at the municipal landfill year-round, seven days a week from 8:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

All yard waste dropped at the landfill must also be in brown paper bags and be under 50 pounds per bag in order to be free.
