Fort McMurray man arrested on multiple charges

A Fort McMurray man is facing numerous charges after a month-long investigation by the Wood Buffalo RCMP.

On April 27, 2023, Dawit Mola, 21, of Fort McMurray was arrested and charged with 14 offences.

Mola was charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a restricted firearm
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000
  • Operate motor vehicle without holding subsisting operator’s licence
  • Five counts of failure to comply with release order condition

The Wood Buffalo RCMP also seized:

  • 20 white pressed pills suspected to be oxycodone
  • 90 grams of a white powdered substance suspected to be cocaine
  • Over $2,500 in Canadian currency
  • A loaded handgun

Mola was taken into custody and will make his first court appearance on May 23, 2023.
