Chipewyan Prairie First Nation man arrested twice for arson

A Chipewyan Prairie First Nation man is facing numerous charges related to arson.

On April 23, Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a report of a series of suspicious fires at the First Nation. Police detained a male suspect who then allegedly attempted to flee.

After investigating, RCMP charged 39-year-old Timothy Herman with resisting arrest and four counts of arson. Herman was released on a promise to appear.

Two days later, police responded to another report of arson.

RCMP once again arrested and charged Herman, with six counts of arson and one count of failing to comply with a release order.

Herman was remanded into custody and makes his first court appearance on May 1st.
