Rooftop Campout raises over $30,000 for local charities

The Fort McMurray Fire Department’s Charities Association Rooftop Campout was a huge success.

In total, the Charities Association raised $30,700.26, which will go toward five local charities.

Over the course of four days of camping out on the rooftop of the Tim Hortons in Eagle Ridge, the five local firefighters competed in challenges and activities to raise the funds.

The funds raised will be split between the Fort McMurray SPCA, Wood Buffalo Food Bank, Centre of Hope, BGC Fort McMurray, and Waypoints.

“We want to give a huge thank you to every single person that contributed to making this weekend a huge success,” says Olivia Rockwell.

Rockwell says the Charities Association couldn’t be happier with the outcome and are looking forward to next year’s campout already.
