Wood Buffalo RCMP are looking to speak with anyone who may have information about a suspicious phone caller.

On Monday morning, police were contacted by a victim of an unusual call. The victim had placed a business ad on Facebook. They received a call from a man enquiring about the ad, but the discussion quickly took an unusual turn.

The male caller began to ask about the victim’s physical appearance, ethnicity, and marital status. The caller then asked the victim to meet them in a park.

The call was made from a blocked number, and the man refused to identify himself.

RCMP are requesting further information regarding this occurrence and are looking to speak with other potential victims.

The police also advise if advertising a business:

• Advertise on a business page and not from your personal account
• Never provide your personal information
• Report anything that appears suspicious
• Always chose a public area if you are meeting a stranger
