Carbon Tax rebates going up

Your carbon tax rebates are on the rise.

On April 14, the federal government is increasing the Climate Action Incentive rebates for Albertans.

An Alberta family of four will now receive a rebate of $386 every three months, for a total of $1544 over a year.

Households in rural communities will receive an additional 10 percent.

“Pollution pricing means more money in your pocket right now,” says The Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change.

“This is one way that we’re working to ensure life stays affordable while fighting climate change.”

If you have already filed your 2022 federal taxes, you can expect the payment to arrive by the end of April.

If you have not yet filed, your first payment will be added to your July rebate.

The higher Climate Action Incentive payment amounts this year come alongside new proposed affordability measures for Canadians
