$10 million to food banks across the province

The Government of Alberta has provided $10 million to food banks and food security organizations across the province.

The funding has been distributed to 210 organizations, including three in Fort McMurray.

Wood Buffalo Food Bank Association, The Salvation Army, and Nistawoyou Association Friendship Centre were all recipients.

The grants are split into three categories which cover food banks, food security, and donation-matching grants.

The Wood Buffalo Food Bank Association received $60,000 from the food bank grant, and $50,000 from the donation-matching grant, for a grand total of $110,000.

The Salvation Army located in Fort McMurray, received $20,000 from the food bank grant, and $39,390 from the donation-matching grant, for a grand total of $59,390.

Nistawoyou Association Friendship Centre received $50,000 from the food security grant.

This is only half of the $20 million the government promised in November 2022.
