Police and Bylaw Stepping up OHV Enforcement

RCMP and Municipal Bylaw Officers are on the lookout for unlawful Off Highway Vehicle Use.

Last month, RMWB council approved an Off-Highway Vehicle Compliance Strategy.

The strategy expands the Municipality’s current approach to education and awareness by increasing enforcement of activities that impact public and user safety or may negatively impact the quality of life for residents.

“Safety is the number one priority,” says Deanne Bergey, Director of Community and Protective Services.

“We are responding to the concerns we’ve heard from residents and trail users.”

A dedicated team of enforcement officers will be patrolling areas of concern for unauthorized OHV use, including municipal property and high pedestrian traffic locations.

Fines for unlawful use of an OHV range from $50.00 for operating the vehicle within the Urban Service Area, to $567.00 for Carelessly Driving an OHV.
