RWMB Opens Embarras River Bypass on Winter Road

The RMWB is opening a bypass at the Embarras River crossing.

The bypass will serve as the regular winter road route for the remainder of the season. The original river crossing is closed so crews can work to reinforce the riverbank and reduce erosion.

The Municipality is also asking drivers to exercise caution and be careful of construction equipment working in the area of the Lencucha culvert crossing at approximately km 50 southwest of Richardson Lake. Crews are working to construct a bypass around the wetland area for next season.

The RM is also reminding road users to drive to conditions and be careful while traveling on the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road, as there is additional equipment and heavy loads currently using the road.

There are no temporary closures planned and load limits are not expected to be affected by this construction work.

The Municipality advises drivers to review the Winter Road Safety Tips before proceeding on the winter roads.

Load limits are expected to be reduced later in the winter as consistent warmer temperatures arrive. Updates on winter road conditions can be found at rmwb.ca/winterroads, or sign up for email updates at subscribe.rmwb.ca
