Alberta adds over 21,000 Jobs in January

Alberta’s Minister of Jobs, Economy and Northern Development, Brian Jean, is pleased with the latest employment figures.

According to Stats Can, over 21,000 jobs were added in our province in January.

“Alberta’s economy is raising the bar for job creation,” says Jean, who also serves as MLA for Fort McMurray – Lac La Biche.

“Our government’s strong fiscal policies are building a climate where more businesses can thrive.”

The increase in employment in January was widespread across industries. Wholesale and retail trade showed the biggest January gains, while healthcare, social assistance, and education also showed significant growth.

“Alberta is welcoming skilled workers from around Canada and the world to experience the Renewed Alberta Advantage,” says Jean.

However, Jean says the province will also keep an eye on inflation.

“As our province continues to grow, our government remains committed to keeping Alberta affordable,” Jean states.

Stats Can also notes that the majority of job creation in Alberta is for full-time work.
