On February 2, 2023, RCMP executed a search warrant at 270 Tundra Drive, where 702 suspected opioid pills, a firearm, and $1,150 were seized.

A male related to the residence was located in a vehicle away from the building and was arrested.

60-year-old Bruce MacDonald is being charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a firearm, contravening regulation of the Firearms Act, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possessing a firearm contrary to prohibition order, proceeds of crime, driving while unauthorized, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, and transporting liquor in an open container.

Wood Buffalo RCMP Drug Section began the investigation in December 2022 with the assistance of the Criminal Intelligence Unit, General Duty Watch Members, and Police Dog Services.

MacDonald has been released from Police custody following a Judicial Interim Hearing, and it set to appear in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on February 28, 2023.
