Extreme Cold Postpones Arctic Winter Games

Due to extremely cold temperatures in the RMWB, the Wood Buffalo 2023 Arctic Winter Games is postponing some events today (Feb. 1).

The biathlon and cross-country skiing events will not be completed today.

Snowboarding at Vista Ridge is delayed until 1:45 p.m., with banked slalom running today, and snowboard cross tomorrow.

Alpine skiing and snowshoeing are still a go today, with extra safety precautions in place.

According to Environment Canada, temperatures are expected to dip into the minus 40s throughout the day and night and are expected to hang around until Thursday.
