Heart-shaped urn returned to owner after break-and-enter

An urn containing the ashes of a newborn baby was returned after it was stolen during a break-and-enter last week.

A good Samaritan, April Hancock, took to her social network after hearing her acquaintance was robbed, and that the thief of thieves made off with a heart-shaped box containing the ashes of his child who died shortly after birth.

When Hancock put the word out through her friends and her social media, a person came by and handed her the urn and ashes. Heart swelling, Hancock told the person, “That’s a very good thing you have done there”.

Hancock immediately called the victim and let them know the good news. The victim’s friend hurried to meet Hancock and brought the urn and ashes back to their rightful owner.

The RCMP are asking for your help in their investigation of the burglary. The break and enter occurred on the morning of January 4th. Other items stolen include a camouflaged Easton baseball bat and a Samsung soundbar. Police are asking anyone who may have information to call the Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com
