Indigenous Artists encouraged to submit work for Arctic Winter Games exhibit

The 2023 Arctic Winter Games Host Society is seeking art from local Indigenous artists.

The art is part of an exhibit honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-spirit Plus peoples.

The exhibit will be located in MacDonald Island Park during the games, and then moved to a longer-term location.

The art submissions may be created or be pre-existing and may include a variety of mediums such as visual, textile, literary, craft, or other mediums.

“The exhibit intends to honour and remember Indigenous peoples lost to colonial violence, and to bring further awareness to the movements of MMIWG2S+ and MMEIP,” says Jes Croucher, Indigenous Arts Curator and co-chair of the Culture Committee.

“Our stories, whether oral or visual, are the source of healing so it’s important we continue to share them.”

The application deadline is January 17, 2023.

The Arctic Winter Games are taking place in our region from January 29th to February 4th.
