Fog and weather are believed to be a factor in a fatal accident on Highway 2.

A 20-vehicle pile-up killed one and injured nine people on Tuesday night.

RCMP from Airdrie remain at the site Wednesday morning (Dec. 28), and Highway 2 remains partly closed north of Airdrie.

511 Alberta is telling travelers between Edmonton and Calgary to expect major delays and to consider taking an alternative route.

A detour is available using Highway 567 according to 511 Alberta.
