“There are no local conditions contributing to delays,” says Fort McMurray International Airport.

A blistering blast of cold weather continues to batter most of Western Canada this morning.

Heavy snowfall in Vancouver and extreme cold in Calgary and Edmonton continue to cause havoc with flights in Western Canada.

“There are no local conditions contributing to delays,” says Jessica Lipton, Marketing and Communications Manager at the Fort McMurray International Airport.

“Give plenty of time as it’s a busy time of year at YMM. Please be patient and kind to Airport Authority and our partners’ staff as everyone is doing their best to ensure our passengers get where they’re going.”

According to Environment Canada, Fort McMurray is expected to see highs in the minus 20s today, with the lows dipping in the minus 40s overnight.
