RCMP arrest two in NorthStar Ford vehicle theft, investigation ongoing

Two individuals have been arrested in connection to the vehicle theft that took place at NorthStar Ford on November 17, 2022.

Paul Berube (41), from Wheatland County, was arrested near Gleichen, AB, and is facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Berube was released from Police custody and is set to appear in Siksika Provincial Court on January 12, 2023.

Joseph Carl Read (38), from Grande Prairie, was arrested in West Kelowna, BC, and is facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft, breach of release order, and numerous firearm offences.

Read was held for a Judicial Interim Hearing and was remanded into custody in BC, and is set to appear in court on January 9, 2023.

According to the RCMP, five of the 13 reported stolen vehicles have been recovered in Alberta and BC, with one of the originally reported stolen vehicles not having been.

Wood Buffalo RCMP General Investigation Section is continuing to investigate the situation and is actively seeking anyone with information.
