Inaugural ‘Tree of Hope’ ceremony raising money for Centre of Hope

The inaugural ‘Tree of Hope’ lighting ceremony is taking place tomorrow for the Centre of Hope.

To help support those experiencing homelessness in the community, you can buy a $5 lightbulb to help light up a 12-foot Christmas tree outside their McLeod St location.

“The holiday season can mark the hardest time of year for our patrons who are experiencing homelessness in our community,” Centre of Hope stated in a release.

“The Tree of Hope is a visible reminder to our community that Christmas is a time of generosity, and fellowship and demonstrates the communities support for the Centre of Hope. The opportunity to spread compassion to those in need symbolizes their strength and courage to repeat their day in darkness, and loneliness while being homeless.”

Wednesday, December 21, marks the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year.

Money raised through the campaign will go towards the Centre of Hopes programming and services.
