Two arrested following police chase with Wood Buffalo RCMP

Two individuals have been charged following a police chase and two stolen vehicles on the Chipewyan Prairie Dene First Nation.

On Friday, Sept. 30, Wood Buffalo RCMP located a stolen Dodge Ram Truck being driven in the community with two occupants.

The suspects fled from police after an attempt to pull them over.

A tire deflation device was successfully used against the stolen vehicle, however, the driver continued to flee in the damaged truck into a nearby MEG Energy Worksite.

Upon entering the site, police witnessed a white Ford F250 leaving the site at a high rate of speed, which according to witnesses was stolen from the suspects after ditching the previously stolen Dodge Ram.

The chase continued down Hwy. 881 several km north of Conklin where the F250 was eventually disabled by the Emergency Response Team.

A 29-year-old male and a 30-year-old female were arrested with assistance from Police Dog Services.

The male was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say that a loaded firearm, ammunition, knives, and drugs were found during their investigation.
