The RMWB Council announced in a press release Monday that they appointed a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the region.

Paul Thorkelsson comes to Fort McMurray after holding the CAO position for the District of Saanich for six years.

Mayor Sandy Bowman says he knows that Thorkelsson is the right choice to guide the organization moving forward.

“Building stronger relationships and partnerships across the region is something that is very important for us. It is also critical that the CAO understands the value and positive role of the people at the Municipality in delivering the programs, projects, and services the region needs.”

Mayor Bowman also gave thanks to Interim CAO Linda Ollivier.

“Linda’s sound fiscal management and guidance over the years has left an important mark on the organization. On behalf of my Council colleagues, I want to thank Linda for her significant contributions, and wish her the best in her retirement.”

Thorkelsson will begin his new role on September 26, 2022.
