Fort McMurray man arrested following foot pursuit with police

Wood Buffalo RCMP arrested a 19-year-old Fort McMurray man on Wednesday following a police foot pursuit through a downtown business.

While on patrol through the downtown core, police say they spotted a suspect known to them wanted on outstanding warrants.

When officers advised the suspect that he was under arrest he fled on foot.

The pursuit led the suspect and police into a nearby business where the arrest took place.

RCMP stated that a struggle ensued and that the man suffered minor injuries in the process and was subsequently taken to the hospital.

Christopher Short is facing the following charges stemming from his outstanding warrants:

  • Flight from Police
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Assaulting a Police Officer (x4)
  • Possession of Break in tools
  • Theft under $5000.00
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Flight from Police

Christopher remains in custody pending his Judicial Interim Release and is facing additional charges from this incident.
